EXPERIENCE:
2004 to Present – Electrical Maintenance Specialist:, U.S. Navy: As maintenance person in Primary work center in Reactor Electrical division, was responsible for troubleshooting and repairing turbine generators, AC and DC motors, motor controllers, switchboards, 60 Hz motor generators, lighting systems, indicating systems, transformers, circuit breakers, bus transfer devices, voltage regulators and electrical monitoring equipment.
• Conducted preventative maintenance on Electric Plant components as part of work center of 5 other members. Maintained a strong work ethic during a constantly changing schedule during in port and availability periods, and three separate overseas deployments.
• Was directly involved in repair and corrective maintenance of failed components and systems to provide continuous and uninterrupted electrical power and propulsion to maintain the ship’s mission.
• Directly involved in and responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting components associated with 4160V/450V switchboards and 120V subsystems, including indication systems and transformers. Along with control systems for the ship’s protection systems and propulsion control systems.
• Proficient with working on energized electrical equipment for the purpose of troubleshooting, repair and inspections. Efficient in electrical safety and use of test equipment.
2008 to Present - Shutdown Reactor Operator, U.S. Navy:
• As SRO, stood hundreds of hours in control of various Reactor Plant monitoring and operating systems. Including Temperature, Pressure, Coolant flow, Generator levels and protective equipment.
• Maintained proficiency in qualifications throughout shipyard availability where the core was shutdown and cooled down for testing. Including freeze seal operations, and restricted Temp/Pressure bands.
• Maintained positive control of Reactor Plant evolutions. Involving charging, discharging, solid plant operations, coolant flow shifts, valve manipulations and pre-critical checks.
2006 to Present - Electrical Operator, U.S. Navy:
• Stood countless hours as Electrical/Switchgear operator, both while operating and shutdown. Monitored and manipulated Ship’s Service Electrical Distribution system during steady state and emergency operations. Monitored 4160V/450V/120V loads.
• Responded flawlessly to numerous Electric Plant malfunctions, including DIW (Dead in the Water) drills, and twice to real casualties that greatly impaired the ship’s Electrical Power Distribution, maintaining power to vital loads and restoring power quickly and efficiently.
• Was selected to stand as Electrical/Switchgear Operator for designated watch team during inspections, including numerous MTT visits and ORSE evaluations.
• Provided countless hours of training for junior personnel, including under instruction watches during Propulsion Plant Casualty Drills.
2007 to Present - Propulsion Electrician, U.S. Navy:
• Responsible for monitoring Electric Plant components while operating and shutdown. Continuously roved Reactor and Machinery spaces to ensure the proper operation of electric motors, pumps, ventilation systems, indication and alarm systems, switchboards/load centers, and associated transformers.
• As Propulsion Electrician, responded to casualties involving electrical fires, 450/120V grounds, electrical component malfunction and failure. Performed routine and emergent evolutions in accordance with Reactor Plant and Steam Plant manuals.
• As a senior watch station, provided backup to Electrical Operator during Electric Plant shifts and manipulations. In the event of Electrical Operator error, was responsible for relieving and finishing evolution, maintaining continuous electrical power.
• Also qualified Ship’s Service Turbine Generator watch, and Throttle man. Maintaining and operating steam turbines and associated sub systems to provide electrical power and propulsion
2008 to Present - Repair Parts Petty Officer, U.S. Navy:
• Qualified as RPPO for Reactor Electrical division and was responsible for maintaining a consumables budget and repairable budget of thousands of dollars.
• Ordered parts for planned maintenance items, and was the point of contact for ordering parts for emergent plant repairs. Having to coordinate with the supply system and keep track of various divisional jobs. Also coordinated with outside activities for parts not carried under the Navy Supply System
• Qualified other 3M and QA areas, including Work Center Supervisor.
• As RPPO also qualified as Electrical Tool Issue, responsible for the maintenance and issue of Reactor Department electrical test equipment. Also heavily involved in the Thermal Imaging, Vibration Analysis and Electrical Safety programs, conducting hundreds of safety checks and observing safety precautions were met during maintenance evolutions.
2007-2010 - Propulsion Plant Drill Team, U.S. Navy:
• As a PPDT member, conducted hundreds of hours of training drills, as well as running Propulsion Plant Casualty Control drills on various watch stations to maintain watch stander proficiency and readiness in the event of an actual casualty.
• Intervened on numerous occasions to prevent watch stander action from causing equipment damage. Particular drill team received excellent remarks during MTT visits.
